Dunhill Tuxedos

To everything there is a season…including tuxedos

Picking out dresses for your girls is easy, find the color, the style and the price.  We all know dresses, but when we get into the tuxedo realm sometimes it can get difficult. Breaking tuxedos down by the season of your wedding can help you start somewhere.

If your spring and summer weddings reflect light and airy colors or cool tones, it’s best to go in that direction for the guy’s attire too.  A microfiber fabric is going to be lighter for the guys on hot summer wedding days.  It is made of a lightweight fabric with a higher thread count.  The tuxedo will feel less heavy and cooler than most wool/polyester blend coats.  Another nice perk is it will keep the guys from taking their jackets off too quickly.

If your going fall for your wedding, it probably absorbed in rich tones of chocolates, mochas, harvests and apples.  If you find yourself wondering how a black tuxedo is going to fit in, the answer is simple….GO BROWN.  A chocolate brown tux is beautiful in fall weddings.  It photographs well and does not make for a clashing wedding party.  If your fall wedding is informal and outdoors, you can opt for staying in the color scheme and going with a tan suit.

Winter weddings are pretty with their icy blues and gleaming silvers to reflect the newly fallen snow.  Keep it warm and keep it formal.  Simple is sweet in wintertime weddings.  A classic black tuxedo with a satin lapel in a one or two button fashion will complete the look with this seasonal wedding.  A formal touch is also nice in the wintertime as your girls will most likely be in full length gowns.  Try a wing tip collar on the shirt to give it a more regal look.

Also remember no matter the season, pay attention to the build and statue of the men in your wedding party.  A three or four button coat with tend to flatter a taller, more athletic built guy.  A two or one button may be more flattering on guys of bigger statue.  If you have a crew of mixed shapes and sizes, try out the two button.  It seems to be flattering on the universal figure.

Until next time…..Happy wedding planning!
