For a good cause

It depends what your stance on favors are.  There is the practical bride and groom who view favors as something that their guests can do with or without.  A great idea for the couples that fit into this category is use your favor money to donate to your favorite cause or foundation.

Select a cause that is close to home.  Research the foundation before you donate and ask about if they offer in lieu of favor cards.  If they do not offer the cards there, then look into having your own printed.

The favor cards will be like place cards that you can place at each seat informing your guests that a donation has been made in their name.

DIY favor station

Make your favors fun and interactive.  Put a station out for people to make their own favor at.  You supply the contents and the box or holder and let your guests customize their take home treat.

-candy bar

Re-visit your childhood and purchase different favorite candies amongst the two of you.  Display them in cylinder containers and get cute containers such as mason jars, take out containers or clear boxes or bags for your guests to fill.

-Gourmet popcorn bar

Take a different spin on a do it yourself favor station and get different flavors gourmet popcorn and let your guests go at it.  If you are movie lovers, add to the cuteness of the setup and add your favorite movie titles into the names of the gourmet popcorn.

-Mini cupcake bar

Cupcakes are becoming the new tiny trendy dessert.  Get mini cupcakes in various flavors and creative concoctions and serve them as an after dinner dessert bar.  Let guests sample the many kinds and even make a take home container. Try monogrammed stickers on small bakery boxes.  Try something untraditional and bring this station out about an hour or two after dinner.  This way if everyone is still full from dinner, they can wait to get something sweet once the party has started.  Another take on mini cupcakes is leave some undecorated and let the kids at the reception decorate their own.

-hot chocolate station/coffee bar

Perfect for cooler months or coffee lovers. Offer 3 different types of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamers, syrups, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, sprinkles and everything else you love in your coffee.  Offer this after dinner.

Until next time….Happy Wedding Planning! :)
